The main problem I had with Jurassic World was the sheer lack of imagination that went into the creature design, and nowhere whas this as painful as in the appearance of the genetically modified super-theropod Indominus rex. It's a big, grey hulk of a dinosaur, much like a Giganotosaurus or Acrocanthosaurus and its main 'special feature', its camouflage ability is barely used in the film. So, inspired by the #buildabetterfaketheropod
hashtag on twitter I decided to design my own fictional theropod.
Meet Botauromimus imperator! I imagine this dinosaur as stealthy ambush predator, camouflaging itself among the trees in much the same way a bittern hides in reed beds, with its head pointed up and its plumage blending in with the background.
